Mambakoort Mindarie
A Celebration of Light

Wednesday October 4 to Sunday October 8

‘The place where light & dark begin to touch is where miracles arise.’

The Marina, Mindarie together with VJzoo (Kat Black & Jasper Cook) and Kambarni (Kamsani Bin Salleh) are excited to announce the second installment of Mambakoort Mindarie- an immersive and colourful projection show returning to The Marina this October. Proudly supported by City of WannerooClaytons Mindarie Beachfront, EpsonNova 93.7.

Mambakoort Mindarie is a vibrant art projection show that will feature Kambarni’s bold, colourful artworks projected onto boats at The Marina, Mindarie to provide an immersive experience for viewers. These projections are splashed over an area, covering objects, people and the general area providing an intimate experience. The images move gently and slowly, and the reflections respond to even the slightest change in the wind, resulting in a quiet, contemplative experience.

As well as the projection show, you can expect the return of the Night Market at The Pavilion- an eclectic mix of stalls showcasing art, produce, homewares & more.  Food stalls, food trucks, live entertainment & more. The event held over five nights is free.

The Artists

(Kamsani Bin Salleh) is a Perth-based artist and illustrator descended from the Ballardong Noongar people of the South West and the Nimunburr and Yawuru people of the Kimberley. He believes in the importance of cultural preservation and expression while also challenging the notion of culture being trapped in the past. His artworks reflect an appreciation for the natural world emerging from both a cultural and biological fascination, often stylistically modernising ancient stories as well as attempting to re-contextualise Eurocentric works from an Indigenous perspective.

They are interactive and projection artists and “film nerd” VJ’s who work in a wide range of environments and events. Jasper Cook and Kat Black met at Art School in 2003, and have collaborated creatively since first meeting. Both possess a love for video and visual images, whether it’s for Public Art projects or commercial VJing. The duo have toured and performed in Spain, France, the UK, Singapore, New Zealand, New York, San Francisco and around Australia.

PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY

We wish to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land we are working on, the Whadjuk people. We would like to pay respect to the Elders of the Noongar nation, past, present and future, who have walked and cared for the land and we acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contributions made to the life of this City and this region.
